Myth #3: Motivation Will Carry Me

Motivation feels amazing.
It’s like rocket fuel at take-off.
You get inspired by a book, a post, a TED talk.
You swear this time will be different.
This time you’ll stay on track.
Then… it fades.
You’re back to square one, blaming yourself for “lacking motivation.”
Here’s the truth:
Motivation is a spark, not the fire.
Discipline is the fire.
Systems are the fire.
Identity is the fire.
Motivation is emotional.
Discipline is structural.
So if you’re waiting for motivation to carry you, you’ll wait forever.
Reflection:
Instead of asking, how do I stay motivated?
Ask:
What systems make it easier to win?
What habits make failure harder?
Who am I becoming with each choice?
Because that’s what lasts when the spark burns out.
